The PTA
believes all children deserve a quality arts education
and encourages students to pursue artistic expression
through participation in its annual arts Reflections
Program. The Texas Reflections program has the most
participation of any PTA program with entries totaling
over 75,000 across the state. The program offers
students the opportunity to create works of art for fun
and recognition. Students in preschool through grade 12
are encouraged to create and submit works of art in six
areas: literature, musical composition, photography, the
visual arts, dance choreography, and film/video. In its
more than 30-year history, the program has encouraged
millions of students across the nation and in American
schools overseas to create works of art.

Red Ribbon Week is the
oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the
country.
Red Ribbon Week serves as a vehicle for communities and
individuals to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of
our children through a commitment to drug prevention and
education and a personal commitment to live drug free
lives with the ultimate goal being the creation of drug
free America.
And, perhaps more importantly, Red Ribbon Week
commemorates the ultimate sacrifice made by DEA Special
Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, who died at the hands of
drug traffickers in Mexico while fighting the battle
against illegal drugs to keep our country and children
safe.
Here's how
to show your support.
Monday: Put a “Cap” on Drugs! (Wear interesting
hats) Tuesday: Give Drugs the Slip! (Wear
slippers)
Wednesday: TEAM Up Against Drugs! (Wear team
tshirts) Thursday: Wear Red Day (Students wear
red clothing) Friday: Drugs are TRICKS not
TREATS! (Wear costumes)
There will also be a door decorating contest. The PE
coaches will provide “drug free” items to help the
classrooms decorate their doors! One class from each
grade level will be chosen as the winners with prizes
provided! Winners will be announced Thursday.
All week, we will reinforce the theme: I “Can” Be Drug
Free! Students will be asked to bring a canned food for
a food drive. Collection boxes will be located at the
front doors and at the bus arrival doors.
The coaches will also be including various drug
